Before diving into this topic, it is highly advised to set your ServiceNow homepage as Dashboards. Please check How to navigate in ServiceNow section for further details.
Once it is set, the most recently opened dashboard will automatically be saved as your main dashboard, and it will be loaded at each visit.
Modify Widgets
To modify the widgets in the dashboard, click the Configure button at the top right.
The UI will transform into edit mode.
You can move the widgets by left clicking and dragging from the title bar, or change the size of the widgets by dragging from its corners.
If you hover over the title of a widget, settings icons will be shown.
Click on Edit Widget button, and the dashboard settings of that particular report as a widget will be shown.
If the nature of the report allows you to show real-time updates, you will be able to checkmark that option. Click on Done button to save it. If you see the green clock symbol next to the title of the widget, the widget will be automatically updated and you wouldn’t need to refresh the page.
Click on Exit button to turn off the edit mode.
Add Widgets
Click on Add Widgets button and the reports panel will pop out.
Select Reports as the Widget Category and the reports will be listed based on modification date.
You can also search for a specific report in the Filter bar.
Click on the desired report and click on Add button and its graph will pop-up as a widget in the dashboard.
You can modify the size and position of this new widget as described above.
Click on the remove button at the very right and the widget will be removed.
Modify Dashboards
Click on the hamburger icon to open the dashboard menu at the left hand side.
To rename the dashboard, click on Dashboard Properties button to modify this particular dashboard.
There you can modify the dashboard name, restrict to roles and make other modifications:
Add Dashboard
If you need to set up a new dashboard, just click on New Dashboard button on the same menu.
Define a title for your dashboard and click Submit button to create it.
It is important to note that it is not possible to create on behalf of another user or update the owner of a dashboard.
Finally, an empty dashboard will be created.
This new dashboard is private, and the privacy should be modified from Share panel.
